2 Sided Manager
Hello working Pals,
it’s me again. Heard some news from a friend of mine yesterday. This friend of mine whose department is very small, only consists of herself and her boss. So if either one goes on leave, the other one will have to cover the duties automatically. This arrangement was being instructed by their big boss to ensure all things are kept running smoothly in their department.
But every time when she was going to take her leave especially now coming to year end, she will have phobia. Her boss will get very frustrated as he does not like to cover her works. But if he is the one going on leave, he will give her one long list to clear his works and make sure she has to clear the works before he returns from his leave.
So in order to avoid a clash with her boss. For an one week leave, she usually has to apply at least 5 weeks in advance because her boss will take his own sweet time and eventually forget about her leave application. She also had to keep on reminding her boss for approval before he finally decided to approve one week before her leave commence.
That is why she hardly gets to go on leave and her travel plan is always under the mercy of her boss. To make matters worse, whenever the HR department asked her boss on why his staff always have a lot of leaves to clear. Her boss will always told the HR department that he always try to persuade her to go on leave but she always like to work instead of taking a break. Well, my friend is so furious when she heard about this excuse from the HR.
Well, to get caught in this type of situation, I had told her personally that it is very difficult to come up with a 100% solution to deal with such boss. But one word of advice, this type of boss is just like a coin(2 sided). It is always good to put every things in black and white when dealing with him. You never know when the emails will save your life when he decides to flick over.
